Novell has released the new and eagerly awaited version of their well-established and popular communication platform for email, calendaring, task and contact management: GroupWise 2014.

GroupWise 2014 features a completely revised design and a flexible, dynamic user interface that works the way you work and focuses on your productivity.

Not only users, also administrators of GroupWise can look forward to enhancements, some essential, some much longed for. Customers with mixed operating system environments or with Microsoft-only environments will benefit from the new features as well. GroupWise 2014 does for example not depend on eDirectory any more, which means it does support Active Directory now and is able to inter-operate with Microsoft Exchange.

Here are the improvements and new features of GroupWise 2014 for users and admins at a glance:

  • Desktop client: improved search and filing tools, revised calendar views, easy duplication of items and changing of item types
  • So-called “Quick to” lists for frequent contacts
  • Dynamic menus and views
  • Just-in-time options panel being shown only when needed
  • Web Access: revised interface including auto-refresh
  • Enhanced mobile device support and scalability
  • Active Directory (and of course eDirectory) support
  • 64-bit agents
  • Support for the latest platforms, browsers and mobile devices
  • New web-based administration console
  • System overview page for simple, dashboard-like monitoring of all agents
  • Advanced search functionality, querying and reporting
  • Delegation of admin rights
