Micro Focus says YES to Novell!

Possibly we did meet during the Micro Focus YES Tour 2015, where we were present as sponsors and partners in Stuttgart and Munich.

For us, this tour was a great opportunity to meet customers, partners and like-minded people who are interested in the future of Novell‘s products within Micro Focus. Read more here and browse the pictures from the event. With this short summary we want to bring back the highlights of the YES tour and give you a quick overview over the product and release information that was given during the talks.

The speakers gave insights on the company’s future strategy, and presented solution updates and new products from the current portfolio. But most importantly, they expressed a convincing “YES” from Micro Focus to Novell and its products and customers.

Below, we would like to outline some of the product roadmaps and release information for you provided by the Micro Focus experts Klaus Hild and Oliver vorm Walde:

Product roadmaps and release information

GroupWise 2014 R2 was released on December 8th 2015, with exciting new features like the possibility to reply to an appointment with a new time proposition and a voting feature for easy surveys among the mail’s recipients.

The roadmap for GW 2017 includes, among other things, a GroupWise-Filr-integration. Share your ideas for the GroupWise WebAccess with the developers in the ideas portal.

Vibe 4.0 and Messenger 3.0 are already available – just don’t miss our Vibe Upgrade Check to check your System for “upgrade-ability” before upgrading to Vibe 4.0.
For the upcoming release of Vibe 4.0.1 we can expect (besides some bug fixes) more features, e.g. the opportunity to mark users from an LDAP source as external users.

The Filr 2.0 release can be expected at the beginning of 2016. The Filr 2.0 Client comes with a revolutionary Files On Demand mechanism and, as an admin, you can now customize emails that are sent out by Filr, like share notifications or registration confirmations.

It’s still a long way off, but a look at the roadmaps shows us that Net folder sharing is planned in Filr 2.1, so stay tuned.

ZENworks 11 SP4 brings along simplified management, setup and migration as well as the new ZENworks Updater Service (ZeUS).

The future is near: the technical preview for ZENworks 2016 has already started and you can still join. Also, weigh in with your ideas and requests for future releases in the ideas portal.

OES 2015 & Storage Manager 4

Some new feautures in OES 2015 & Storage Manager 4 are for example Active Directory support and Cross Empire Data Migration.
Besides that, the previous limit for Storage Services has been extended from 8 TeraByte to 8 ExaByte. This should be enough for the most of us, in the first place.

Ideas Portal for your enhancement requests

Do you want to participate in the product development process and vote for the best ideas to get them on the top list to be realized?

Open Horizons Community

During the YES Tour it became clear that the long-standing, close collaboration between Novell and the Open Horizons community will be continued by Micro Focus.
To take a look at the communities main topics visit the Open Horizons Magazine online.

And don’t forget to make your bookings for the Open Horizons EMEA Summit 2016 in Budapest. For us personally, this conference is absolutely able to match up to BrainShare regarding content and quality. We are looking forward to meeting you there!
